A Prayer For Humility for Those that Need Help
One of the greatest barriers between people and God’s help is pride. Isaiah describes how Moab’s arrogance contributed to its downfall, illustrating a timeless truth: pride often prevents people from seeking the very help they desperately need. Whether the need is spiritual, emotional, relational, or practical, humility opens the door to God’s grace and restoration. As you pray today, intercede for those whose hearts have been hardened by pride, asking the Holy Spirit to soften them, lead them to repentance, and prepare them to receive the help and transformation that only God can provide.
Prayer
Father, Moab’s pride kept them from asking for help from Judah in their moment of judgement. In that moment their past accomplishments and successes meant nothing. It’s the same way today. Pride keeps people’s from crying out to You. It keeps them from seeking answers and help from Your people. They reap even more destruction because of this. So Father, I ask that You’ll send the Holy Spirit to these people in need. Help them to give up their pride. Assist them in humbling themselves so they’ll genuinely seek help. Give them a change of heart. Bring them to Your church in humility and repentance. Prepare their heart’s to be disciples. Open them to instruction. I’m asking for total transformation into the image of Jesus. Don’t waste their catastrophe or chastisement. Use it for their ultimate prosperity and for You to receive the maximum amount of glory in the name of Jesus, the Great Redeemer, amen.
Isaiah 16:6-8
We have heard of Moab’s pride—how great is her arrogance!—of her conceit, her pride and her insolence; but her boasts are empty. Therefore the Moabites wail, they wail together for Moab. Lament and grieve for the raisin cakes of Kir Hareseth. The fields of Heshbon wither, the vines of Sibmah also. The rulers of the nations have trampled down the choicest vines, which once reached Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots spread out and went as far as the sea.
