I can’t think of anything the church needs more today than discernment and a prophetic voice. This prayer based on 1 John 4:1-6 gives us the words to adequately cry out for both.  Read this prayer. Pray it using your own words, then share it on all your social media platforms, and be sure to subscribe to the blog. Give me 5 stars on the bottom and comment would be awesome as well. 

Prayer

Father, give me discernment regarding the prophetic.  Teach me to discern what is of man, what is of God and what is demonic. Raise up true prophets of God.  Break the deception that proceeds from psychics and soothsayers. Every proclaimed revelation that emerges from outside of Biblical Christianity is nothing more than lies and false religion. Send the Holy Spirit to give people a hunger for the truth. I ask that they will only be able to hear that “Jesus is Lord.” Bring the outsider to You and cancel the voices that steal their attention. Purify Your voice through the church. Drive the spirit of antichrist from every congregation. False teachers and Spirit-Quenchers must repent.  Raise up true voices in the church so Your people will never seek for a word or a sign outside of the body of Christ. Give each saint discernment and the confidence that the Holy Spirit within them is greater than anyone, any voice, any power that this world would seek to parade in front of them. Make us like Jesus in that we have eyes of fire that see through lies and fill our mouth with the word of God that is sharper than a two-edged sword in Jesus name, amen (Revelation 1:14, 16 & Hebrews 4:12).

1 John 4:1-6

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
