God has always been after one thing from His people—fruit. Not activity, not appearance, but real, lasting spiritual fruit that reflects His character. Isaiah’s picture of the vineyard reminds us that God has invested deeply in our lives, expecting a return that honors Him. As we pray, we’re inviting the Lord to make every area of our lives productive—our homes, our leadership, our work, and our witness. This is a prayer for effectiveness, legacy, and a life that truly multiplies for His kingdom.
Prayer
Father, You’re looking for fruit in my life just like You were looking for fruit from Israel. Make me fruitful. I want to be effective and productive as a parent and spouse. Make my home a habitation for Your presence. Help me create a legacy of godliness that can be passed on throughout my posterity. Equip me to embrace the seasons of my life so I can yield fruit for Your glory. May every part of my vocation and business be effective for You. I’ll bring You my first fruits funding the work of Your kingdom (Proverbs 3). Make me an effective leader and disciple-maker. Use me to reproduce my life and Your character in the lives of others. Empower me to win the lost and build the church for Your Glory. Expand Your kingdom through me in Jesus name, amen.
Isaiah 5:1-7
I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside. He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit. Now, you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad? Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled. I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. I will command the clouds not to rain on it. The vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.
