Mark 1:4–8 presents a powerful picture of repentance and renewal, where John baptized the crowds as they confessed their sins—and pointed forward to the greater baptism Jesus would bring through the Holy Spirit. This prayer invites us into a lifestyle of repentance that draws the presence and power of God. If this message inspires you, help spread the word by sharing this blog with friends and family who are hungry for more of the Spirit.

Prayer

Father, I come to You right now repenting of my sin. I’m turning from it and renouncing it. My desire is to live a life marked by continual repentance. I’m always adjusting to Your ways and expanding my thinking. As I live this life of repentance fill me with the Holy Spirit over and over again. I long for my purity of life to be attractive to Your presence. Radically baptize me in the Holy Spirit. May my repentance always prepare the way for Your presence in the name of Jesus, amen.

Mark 1:4-8

And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
