Isaiah’s vision of the Lord, high and exalted, reveals the overwhelming holiness and majesty of God and the transforming power of His presence. Confronted with divine glory, Isaiah became deeply aware of his own sinfulness, yet he also experienced God’s gracious cleansing and restoration. This prayer expresses a longing to encounter God in the same life-changing way—to seek His face, to be purified, and to live continually in His presence. As we pray, we invite the Lord to awaken a reverent fear of Him, cleanse our hearts, and prepare us for deeper intimacy and faithful service.

Prayer

O God, You’ve commanded me to seek Your face (2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 27:8, Hosea 5:15). Thankfully, You’re no respecter of persons. I want to see You just like Isaiah saw You, high and lifted up! I want to experience the full weight of Your majesty and power. I long to be overcome by Your presence and gripped by the fear of the Lord. Clean me. Prepare me. Put the coal to my lips. Cleanse me so I can see You, and when I see You cleanse me some more. I must live in Your presence. I pray this in the name of Jesus, the doorway of the Father, amen.

Isaiah 6:1-7

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphim, each with six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. They were calling to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” At the sound of their voices, the doorposts and thresholds shook, and the temple was filled with smoke. Then I said, “Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
