A Prayer for Faithfulness in Witness

Introduction

There are moments when following God feels clear and compelling—and others when obedience feels costly, misunderstood, or even fruitless. In Isaiah’s calling, we see a sobering reality: God sometimes sends His messengers into hard places where hearts are resistant. Yet the call remains the same—faithfulness over results. This prayer is for those who desire to represent God accurately, speak truth boldly, and remain steadfast regardless of the response.

Prayer

Father, I pray that every encounter I have with You will transform me into a greater witness for You. Let my message represent You correctly. Empower me to preach Your word in the power of the Holy Spirit. May I be faithful in calling people to repentance. I long to accurately communicate Your message. I won’t dumb it down, compromise it or present You inaccurately. May I faithfully preach until Judgement Day. If I find myself in a context where people are as hard-hearted as the ancient Israelites, then give me the fortitude that refuses to give up in the name of Jesus, God’s faithful messenger, amen. 

Isaiah 6:8-13

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” He said, “Go and tell this people: ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” Then I said, “For how long, Lord?” And he answered: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged, until the Lord has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken. And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”
