One of the most dangerous conditions in the life of a believer is not outward sin—but inward pride. Scripture reveals that self-righteousness can quietly take root in those who appear strong in faith, creating a false sense of spiritual maturity while resisting true repentance. Isaiah confronts this condition head-on, exposing the emptiness of religious pride apart from humility before God. This prayer is a bold cry for God to tear down every trace of self-exaltation within His people and to restore a spirit of brokenness, humility, and genuine righteousness in His church.

Prayer

Father, whoever considers themselves mighty in the things of God, are most likely just puffed up in pride. Burn their self-righteousness and the image of their mightiness to the ground. Do this so humility will be exalted in Your church and repentance will bear fruit in the name of Jesus, the Lord of the church.

Isaiah 1:31

“The mighty man will become tinder and his work a spark; both will burn together, with no one to quench the fire.”
