A Prayer for Stewardship of the Holy Spirit’s Conviction

One of the greatest expressions of God’s love is His willingness to confront us when we wander from Him. In Isaiah’s day, the Lord called His people to repentance, but instead of grieving over their sin, they chose temporary pleasure and ignored His voice. The Holy Spirit still lovingly convicts believers today, drawing us away from sin and back into close fellowship with Christ. As you pray, invite Him to keep your heart tender, responsive, and eager to obey whenever He speaks.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, never let me forsake my repentance. I never want to ignore Your voice that’s calling me to repent. I give You full permission to convict me until my heart is totally turned toward You. Pull everything from my hand that would distract me from Your voice. Teach me to never suppress what You’re saying or to ignore the issues You’re setting in front of my eyes. Never allow me to be comfortable in my sin. Set my gaze firmly on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. I understand what a massive failure it would be to neglect Your call of repentance in my life so I embrace that call in the name of Jesus, my perfect example, amen.

Isaiah 22:12-14

The Lord, the LORD Almighty, called you on that day to weep and to wail, to tear out your hair and put on sackcloth. But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine! “Let us eat and drink,” you say, “for tomorrow we die!” The LORD Almighty has revealed this in my hearing: “Till your dying day this sin will not be atoned for,” says the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
