A Prayer for Revival
Revival often begins when complacency is disturbed and God’s people once again feel the spiritual condition of the world around them. Isaiah 32 confronts a people who had become comfortable and secure while devastation approached, but the passage does not end with judgment. It points toward a transformational moment: “the Spirit is poured on us from on high,” and the wilderness becomes fruitful. This is the heart of revival—God awakening His people, stirring intercession, pouring out His Spirit, and transforming barren places into environments where righteousness, peace, fruitfulness, and restoration can flourish. As you pray today, ask God to awaken His Church from complacency, burden believers for the lost, ignite persistent intercession, and pour out His Spirit in a way that transforms individuals, families, churches, cities, and nations.
Prayer
Jesus, I pray for revival. Infuse complacent believers with a passion for the lost. I specifically ask that women will take hold of their divine ability to intercede for them. I don’t want women to carry this burden alone, so I ask that every believer will feel the weight of a lost humanity. Create a wave of divine intercession that destroys demonic strongholds, and results in the Holy Spirit being poured out upon Your people (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). I’m asking for a heavy rain that transforms our small patches of self-empowered ministry into vast ecosystems of God-sustained life. Create a context where justice and righteousness thrive. Bringing peace to relationships, neighborhoods, cities and nations. Establish quietness and trust in You. I ask for a revival that leads to healthy homes and marriages. May Your glory be on our homes. Be a shield for Your people. I declare Your people will live in peace and prosperity even through economic downturns and natural disasters. I pray this in the name of Jesus, the giver of the Spirit.
Isaiah 32:9-20
You women who are so complacent, rise up and listen to me; you daughters who feel secure, hear what I have to say! In little more than a year you who feel secure will tremble; the grape harvest will fail, and the harvest of fruit will not come. Tremble, you complacent women; shudder, you daughters who feel secure! Strip off your fine clothes and wrap yourselves in rags. Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vines and for the land of my people, a land overgrown with thorns and briers—yes, mourn for all houses of merriment and for this city of revelry. The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted; citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks, till the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest. The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert, his righteousness live in the fertile field. The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest. Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
