There are times that God’s people are overcome by the sin that’s running rampant in our culture and we don’t know what to do. In these times we can cry out to the Father for mercy.  No matter how great our sin, His grace is greater.  Pray this prayer with me based on Hosea 4:1-5 and then let’s ask God for mercy!

Prayer

O Lord, I repent for the wickedness in the land.  Forgive us! Have mercy on us!  As a collective people we do not acknowledge You in a manner worthy of You, we don’t love You in the lavish way You deserve. Collectively, we are not faithful to You.  Cursing, lying, stealing, adultery and bloodshed fill our land.  Our land wastes away.  The Earth grieves at our sin.   The people You created waste away due to the rotting effects of sin.  Even the environment suffers from our wickedness.  We can’t even accuse our brothers because our feet stumble as well.  Blood guilt is on our hands. It’s even on the hands of our preachers.  Have mercy on us and on the people who live in the land.

Hosea 4:1-5

Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: “There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away;the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away. “But let no one bring a charge, let no one accuse another, for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. You stumble day and night, and the prophets stumble with you.
