We desperately need revival in America and around the world. According to the scriptures, before revival comes we must humble ourselves, pray, seek his face and repent (2 Chronicles 7:14). Before corporate revival comes to the church and then spreads to the nations, there must first be massive numbers of people experiencing individual revival. Personal revival must spread exponentially.

This means intentional cultivation of humility, intercession, intimacy and repentance in our lives and church must become the focal point if we expect real revival to visit us and our land. If repentance that brings revival is our goal, then there is no better place to start than the book of Hosea. Hosea calls God’s backslidden people to return to the Lord. Why don’t you join me on a prayer journey through God’s book written to his backslidden children.  Let’s start with this prayer of confession and repentance.

Prayer

Father, forgive me for being an adulterous wife to You.  Forgive my unfaithfulness.  Make me faithful to You.  Lord redeem my legacy and my offspring.  Lord, don’t discipline me for my sin and don’t punish my nation for it’s sin.  We are bloody with violence and aggression.  Forgive us and show us love.  Save us not by our strength, but by Your strength.  I want to be a part of Your people.  Bind me in close to You.  Draw my family, friends, neighborhoods, communities, states, provinces and nations close to You.  You deserve a people.  Make us Your people. Make us like the sand on the sea shore.  Make us Your great nation. Let us act like what we are – Your children.  Unite us!  Heal our divides!  May we rise up in the land and may we love one another. May it be done in Jesus name!

Hosea 1:1-2:1

The word of the Lord that came to Hosea son of Beeri during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the reign of Jeroboam son of Jehoas king of Israel:Say of your brothers, ‘My people,’ and of your sisters, ‘My loved one.’ When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him, “Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord.” So he married Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.

Then the Lord said to Hosea, “Call him Jezreel, because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel. In that day I will break Israel’s bow in the Valley of Jezreel.”

Gomer conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the Lord said to Hosea, “Call her Lo-Ruhamah (which means “not loved”), for I will no longer show love to Israel, that I should at all forgive them. Yet I will show love to Judah; and I will save them—not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but I, the Lord their God, will save them.”

After she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, Gomer had another son. Then the Lordsaid, “Call him Lo-Ammi (which means “not my people”), for you are not my people, and I am not your God.

10 “Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘children of the living God.’ 11 The people of Judah and the people of Israel will come together; they will appoint one leader and will come up out of the land, for great will be the day of Jezreel.
