Obedience to God is a joy when our love for Him is burning in our soul. This prayer asks God for an all consuming love that results in total obedience. Read this prayer.  Repray it in your own words, then share it with a friend. 

Prayer

Father, I pray that my love for You will be so powerful and all encompassing that I’ll easily overcome every temptation the world throws at me.  A true love for You will result in obedience. Craft a love-based obedience in me that’s mature, complete, zealous, grace-based, relational and loving. I understand I can’t do this in my own power. This can only be done by the enabling grace that flows directly from Jesus. I receive this power to overcome the world because I believe in Him. Root my faith to  Him so deeply my love for Him will never wain. I ask this in Jesus name, the One that overcame the world. Amen. 

1 John 5:3-5

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
