A Prayer Acknowledging the Glory of Jesus

Before we ask God for anything, there is something powerful about simply beholding who Jesus is. Isaiah paints a breathtaking picture of Christ as the promised Branch from the line of Jesse—the One filled with wisdom, righteousness, power, and perfect holiness. In a world full of confusion and shallow opinions, Jesus remains the righteous King who sees clearly, judges rightly, and transforms the poor in spirit with His grace. As you pray today, take time to worship Him for who He is and allow His glory to reshape your heart. If this prayer encourages you, share it with someone who needs a fresh vision of Jesus today.

Prayer

Jesus, You’re amazing. You’re the root of Jesse, the fulfillment of the promise to David (II Samuel 7:8-17 ). You’re the Messiah that was promised to the Jewish people. You’re the source of wisdom, understanding, counsel and power. Knowledge flows from You. In Your life on earth You demonstrated a perfect fear of the Lord. You never judged by natural means but by the Spirit and the righteousness of the word. You loved the poor and identified with them. You brought the justice of Your kingdom to them with signs, wonders and miracles. Because of this the Father has exalted You. Now You’re the judge of the earth. The wicked are hellbent on destroying themselves, but Your grace will overcome because You’re clothed in righteousness and faithfulness. Jesus, You’re wonderful. I commit my life to You. I give myself wholly and completely to You. I have been poor in spirit, but through Your grace You enrich me. In righteousness You develop me into Your image and for this I say, “Thank You,” amen.

Isaiah 11:1-5

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—and he will delight in the fear of the LORD.

He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
