Jesus’ call to “deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me” remains one of the most radical invitations in all of Scripture. It challenges every believer to choose surrender over self-preservation and purpose over comfort. This prayer helps us embrace the daily act of carrying the cross—not as a burden, but as a sacred partnership with Christ’s redeeming work. As you pray, let this be your moment of renewed commitment, and share it so others might also find the courage to cling to the cross and follow Jesus fully.

Prayer

Jesus, I’ll take up my cross and follow You. Right now I cling to the cross. I commit to sacrificial living. Make me a living sacrifice that dies daily on the cross (Romans 12:1-2). I will take Your reproach. I’ll suffer for Your name and carry the cross to the place of death. I’m fully committed to Your ways and I’ll let the pieces fall where they may. Give me Your will and Your resolve in Your name, amen.

Mark 8:34-38

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
