When trouble comes, it appears to surround us and move in for the kill.  During the days of Amos, Israel was surrounded and harassed by enemy nations, but many times God moved on their behalf. God can do the same for us today.  Pray this prayer.  Read the passage below that the prayer is referencing. Then share this with a friend in trouble or with a fellow God-lover.

Prayer

Lord, fight for me; I am being overrun.  Evil surrounds me on every side.  Lord, the wicked long to draw blood, and take my life!  I am being attacked over and over again just like Israel and Judah.  Lord, my Damascus has attacked with the cruelest of weapons. This looming evil has attempted to steal my land and my potential.  It seeks to oppress me and my family.  Lord, raise up a standard against the enemy, and tear down their stronghold!  Lord, my Philistines have attacked me and my children.  They have attempted to enslave us, shackle us, and sell us as slaves.  Lord, raise up a standard against them, and destroy their demonic stronghold! Lord, my friends have done nothing to help me.  They have sat idly by just like Tyre in Israel’s crisis.  They haven’t honored their treaties or their commitments to me. Lord, stand with me because “You stick closer than a brother.”  Lord, if my friends are not even standing with me, of course, my enemies are going to jump in assisting my oppressors.  Just as Edom assisted Israel’s enemies the people that don’t like me are just tools in the demons hands.  Lord, raise up a standard against them, and make their city gates fall.  My troubles surround me! Syria to the north and Ammon to the south.  They’re attempting to cut open my womb.  They are attempting to steal my faith, my gifts, my potential, my disciples and all of the holy fruit in my life.  Lord, burn down their demonic stronghold, and send the wind of your spirit to blow these demons out of town.  Lord, in my time of distress don’t forget about my Moab.  These enemies want to defame my name and discredit my past.  They want to pull me into sexual sin.  Lord, deliver me from temptation.  Lord,You are my deliverer!  If every form of evil surrounds me, when You’re with me, we are still in the majority.  You are my victory and give me victory in Jesus name.

Amos 1:3-15

This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Damascus, even for four, I will not relent: Because she threshed Gilead with sledges having iron teeth, I will send fire on the house of Hazael that will consume the fortresses of Ben-Hadad. I will break down the gate of Damascus; I will destroy the king who is in the Valley of Aven and the one who holds the scepter in Beth Eden. The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,” says the LordThis is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Gaza, even for four, I will not relent. Because she took captive whole communities and sold them to Edom, I will send fire on the walls of Gaza that will consume her fortresses. I will destroy the king of Ashdod and the one who holds the scepter in Ashkelon. I will turn my hand against Ekron, till the last of the Philistines are dead,” says the Sovereign LordThis is what the Lord says, “For three sins of Tyre, even for four, I will not relent. Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom, disregarding a treaty of brotherhood, I will send fire on the walls of Tyre that will consume her fortresses.” This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Edom, even for four, I will not relent. Because he pursued his brother with a sword and slaughtered the women of the land, because his anger raged continually and his fury flamed unchecked,  I will send fire on Teman that will consume the fortresses of Bozrah.” This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Ammon, even for four, I will not relent. Because he ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to extend his borders, I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah that will consume her fortresses amid war cries on the day of battle, amid violent winds on a stormy day. Her king will go into exile, he and his officials together,” says the Lord.

Amos 2:1-3

This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Moab, even for four, I will not relent. Because he burned to ashes the bones of Edom’s king, I will send fire on Moab that will consume the fortresses of Kerioth. Moab will go down in great tumult amid war cries and the blast of the trumpet. I will destroy her ruler and kill all her officials with him,” says the Lord.
