Introduction

In Mark 12:13–17, Jesus reminds us that while we may live under earthly systems, our ultimate identity and allegiance belong to God because His image is stamped on our lives. This powerful moment calls us to live with wisdom, honor our responsibilities, and most importantly, surrender our hearts completely to the Lord. Today’s prayer helps us realign our lives with that truth and joyfully give God what is rightfully His. If this speaks to you, share it with others who may need this same reminder and encouragement.

Prayer

Teacher, I recognize my duel citizenship. I’ll carry out my responsibilities to my nation and people. My money carries their image and I’ll give to them what belongs to them. I also carry Your image and because of this I will give You what belongs to You. I give You my life, desires, hopes, dreams, relationships and total lordship. I’m Yours. It all comes from You and I’ll return it to You consecrated for Your purposes. Your master, do with me as You will in Jesus name, amen.

Mark 12:13-17

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.
