As we’re praying through the book of Amos, some passages stir my heart more than others, especially the passages that motivate me to seek the Father. When I see these people who have invested their lives in the pursuit of God and they have encountered Him, then it motivates me to keep seeking.  Read this prayer and then share it with a fellow seeker.

Prayer

Oh, I want to see You.  I long to see You in Your glory.  Open my eyes to behold You in the temple!  Seeing Your face is what I live for. My heart longs for You.  Your face is what I seek. Seeking You is my greatest pursuit. Make my love for You legendary. I long to fulfill the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-40).  I think of the great men in the Old Testament that saw You: Moses, Joshua, Micaiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and now Amos (Exodus 33:19-23, Joshua 5:14, 1 King 22:19, Isaiah 6:1, Ezekiel 1:25-28).  This was not an accident, this was the capstone of a life invested in seeking You. Give me the grace to invest my life in the pursuit of Your presence, and let the result be the same as these godly men. They found You!  I also want to remind You that I have a better covenant than these men, and I’m thankful that You live within me. Nevertheless, I want to see You, just like Amos did, in the name of Jesus, the one who reveals the Father.

Amos 9:1a

I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and he said…
