Most people don’t take responsibility for their spiritual life.  They look to a church, pastor or friend to seek God for them. Yet the cross gives us access to the presence of God. A way has been made to the Father.  Now is the time to take responsibility for our personal life. Pray this prayer with me and read these verses from Hosea chapter ten and start taking responsibility for your spiritual life right now.

Prayer

Lord, don’t allow prosperity to destroy me. The more I prosper the more dedicated I’ll to be to You, but if I wander, remove the self made idols from my life. Give me godly leaders who will lead me in paths of righteousness. Break the independent spirit from me. Don’t let me blame others for my problems in life. Help me take responsibility for my mistakes, not litigating for money or draining life from others. Lord, at the end of my life let me have no regrets. You know the regrets resulting from idol-loving and idol-living. Certainly, I don’t want to be in bondage to the enemy due to my sin. I want to live free! Destroy the altars where I bow to sin. Lord, rob me of the opportunity of temptation. Cover my idol altars with thorns so I have no access to them. Deliver me from evil!  No more chains! Complete freedom! Complete dominance over my spiritual enemies is what I ask. Freedom in Your name is what I claim.

Hosea 10:1-10

Israel was a spreading vine; he brought forth fruit for himself. As his fruit increased,he built more altars; as his land prospered,he adorned his sacred stones. Their heart is deceitful, and now they must bear their guilt. The Lord will demolish their altars and destroy their sacred stones. Then they will say, “We have no king because we did not revere the Lord. But even if we had a king, what could he do for us?” They make many promises, take false oath and make agreements; therefore lawsuits spring up like poisonous weeds in a plowed field. The people who live in Samaria fear for the calf-idol of Beth Aven. Its people will mourn over it, and so will its idolatrous priests, those who had rejoiced over its splendor, because it is taken from them into exile. It will be carried to Assyria as tribute for the great king. Ephraim will be disgraced; Israel will be ashamed of its foreign alliances. Samaria’s king will be destroyed, swept away like a twig on the surface of the waters. The high places of wickedness will be destroyed—it is the sin of Israel. Thorns and thistles will grow up and cover their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!” “Since the days of Gibeah, you have sinned, Israel, and there you have remained. Will not war again overtake the evildoers in Gibeah? When I please, I will punish them; nations will be gathered against them to put them in bonds for their double sin.
