In Mark 2:21–22, Jesus confronts rigid thinking with the need for renewal. New wine requires new wineskins—flexibility, responsiveness, and openness to the Spirit’s move. This prayer doesn’t just ask for change; it cries out for transformation in every part of life to carry God’s new work well. If you’re done with surface-level faith and hungry for the deeper things of God, this prayer is your next step.
If you know someone ready for a spiritual upgrade, send this prayer their way.
Prayer
Father, I must be flexible and adjustable like a new wineskin. I must embrace Your new activity on earth. Failure isn’t an option. I never desire to miss anything You’re doing because of tradition and rigidity of thinking. I commit to embrace what You’re doing now. Give me the grace to see it. Work this flexibility throughout every crack and crevice in my mind, soul, attitude and spirit. Do this in the name of Jesus, amen.
Mark 2:21-22
No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.
