When hopelessness surrounds us, the story of Jairus’ daughter reminds us that Jesus holds authority even over death. In Mark 5:36–43 we see faith rising in the midst of fear, as Jesus calls for simple trust and then proves His power by raising a child to life. As you pray today, invite the Holy Spirit to deepen your confidence that no situation is beyond His reach. After you pray, consider sharing this post so others may also be encouraged in their belief for miracles.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, give me a faith that’ll raise the dead (Acts 9:36-42). No matter how hopeless the situation, fill me with faith. Surround me with friends that’ll speak faith and believe with me. When people scoff, I’ll stand strong. Never let me be put to shame. Do miracles! Do miracles in front of people that don’t believe. Vindicate my child-like faith. Do signs and wonders that drop the jaws of nominal saints and unbelievers alike. Place in me the love and compassion that took Jesus to Jairus’ house. As You work wonders through my life, may I never be filled with pride because I’m only ministering out of Your love. Do this in the name of Jesus, amen. 

Mark 5:36-43

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him.

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!”(which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
