One of the greatest tragedies in scripture is when the people of God forget the One who redeemed them. In Isaiah’s time, God spoke through the prophet to confront His people about their spiritual rebellion and their refusal to recognize Him as their Father. This prayer invites us to intercede for believers who have drifted away from God and to ask the Holy Spirit to awaken their hearts again.

Prayer

Father, I pray for Your backslidden children. I ask that You’ll intensify the work of the Holy Spirit among them so they’ll be convicted of their rebellion. Let them accept Your Lordship and management of their life. May the understanding of Your nature, character and position be made known to them in Jesus’ name, amen.

Isaiah 1:2-3

Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the Lord has spoken: “I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the donkey its owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.”
