When Jesus gathered His disciples in Mark 10:42–45, He redefined greatness with one powerful truth: in His Kingdom, the greatest are those who serve. These verses call us to reject the world’s measures of success and embrace the humility and compassion modeled by Christ Himself. Today’s prayer helps us posture our hearts in that same spirit of service. If this speaks to you, consider sharing it so others can rediscover the beauty of serving like Jesus.
Prayer
Jesus, give me a servant’s heart. I’ll serve by washing feet, caring for aging parents or by leading people. By Your grace, I’ll do every act with a servant’s heart. May my love for You be expressed in my service to people. My love for others will be expressed in practical and tangible ways. Jesus, I’ve learned this from You, now help me to live it out. I ask for this in Your name, amen.
Mark 10:42-45
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
