Mark 10:2-12 gives us one of Jesus’ strongest teachings on marriage, covenant, and the condition of our hearts. In a world where relationships are fragile, Jesus calls us back to holiness, unity, and the sacredness of our vows. Today’s prayer asks God to soften our hearts, strengthen our marriages, and guard our homes from anything that would divide or destroy. If this prayer speaks life into your marriage or someone else’s, share it so others can pray with you and fight for their covenant too.

Prayer 

Father, true holiness is the protector of my relationships, particularly my marriage relationship. I pray for my marriage. Soften my heart toward my spouse. May I never become immune to my sin, particularly with my interactions with him/her. Adultery-proof my marriage: no flirting…no boundary busting…no inappropriate interaction…no pornography…no deep intimate sharing with someone of the opposite gender. Help us protect our marriage. Teach us to stand guard against the sin that would rob us of our relationships. Make us covenant-keepers in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Mark 10:2-12

Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” “What did Moses command you?” he replied. They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”

“It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
