Following Jesus means more than receiving His blessings—it means participating in His burdens. In Mark 15, we see Simon of Cyrene compelled to carry the cross of Christ, offering a powerful picture of what it means to share in the weight of God’s redemptive purposes. This prayer invites us to move beyond a comfortable faith and into a surrendered life that embraces the cross. As we align our hearts with what burdens the heart of God, we discover the deep privilege of partnering with Him in bringing His Kingdom to the world.

Prayer

Father, choose me to carry Your cross. I’m willing to carry what burdens You. If an issue breaks Your heart, then break mine over that issue. If it burdens You, let me help carry the load. I repent of always attempting to create a faith that doesn’t carry the cross. I’ll embrace the weight of the cross and the difficulties that come with being Your disciple. I am all in for the blessings and the difficulties in Jesus’ name, amen.

Mark 15:21

A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross.
