Mark 2:18–20 reminds us that spiritual life unfolds in seasons. Jesus said there’s a time to fast—and we’re living in it. This prayer recognizes that longing for Christ’s presence and leans into fasting as a form of alignment with His purposes. It’s for those who miss the Bridegroom and are willing to hunger for His return by pressing in now.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, I miss Jesus. I wish He were here in bodily form, but He’s not. So now’s the time for fasting. Give me the grace and the desire to abstain from food. My fast will bring Your manifest presence. I desire to live a fasting life that’s saturated in Your presence. Train me to invest myself into fasting until Jesus’ Kingdom is established on Earth. May this be done in my life, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Mark 2:18-20

Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?” Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.”
