The mocking of Jesus by the soldiers is one of the most sobering scenes in Scripture. The King of Glory was ridiculed, struck, and dishonored by those He came to save. Yet this moment calls us not only to grief, but to reflection. How often have we treated His name lightly or lived in ways that failed to honor Him? This prayer is an invitation to repentance and renewed reverence, asking that every part of our lives bring glory to the name of Jesus. As you pray, allow the Holy Spirit to restore deep honor in your heart for Christ and His name. If this prayer challenges or encourages you, share it on social media and invite others to live lives that honor the King.

Prayer

Jesus, my heart is broken by the thought of You being mocked. Your name is so great. For it to be ridiculed is a crime against God and all He created. Who am I to point the finger? How many times have I made a mockery of Your name? How many times have I trivialized who You are? Lord, I repent. I embrace a life that honors and glorifies Your name. I renounce mockery and irreverence. I pray that every cell in my body will glorify You and every action will bring greater esteem of Your name. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.

Mark 15:16-20

The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
