In Mark 11:27–33, Jesus is confronted by religious leaders attempting to trap Him with questions. Instead of reacting emotionally or defensively, Jesus responds with wisdom, clarity, and divine authority. This passage reminds us that how we respond under pressure matters—and that God can give us the right words at the right time. Today’s prayer asks Jesus to shape our responses so they reflect His wisdom and grace. If this prayer speaks to your heart, consider sharing it with someone who needs God’s help navigating difficult conversations.
Prayer
Jesus, while on earth Your responses totally amazed me. Your ability to think on Your feet is unparalleled. Every time You were pressed You gave a marvelous and witty answer. I’m asking that You’ll develop this within me. Fill my mouth. Always let me have the right answer. Amaze me by the words You fill my mouth with in Jesus’ name, amen.
Mark 11:27-33
They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?” Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!” They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
