Psalm 149 invites us into a passionate celebration of God’s goodness—a call for the faithful to erupt in praise with music, dancing, and joyful hearts. This prayer is inspired by that call, asking the Holy Spirit to stir a culture of vibrant worship within our churches and communities. Prayer

Holy Spirit, cause praise to erupt in our church services. Inspire the Lord’s people to rejoice in their salvation. Bring forth dancing while the music plays. Make our music upbeat and excellent. Give us songs of rejoicing! Cause Your people to sing songs of praise all the time. Cause praises to flow from us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Crush the devil and his demons through our praise! Create a culture of praise among Your people in Jesus’ name, amen.

Psalms 149:1-9

Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them—this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord.
