In Mark 10:23–27, Jesus reminds His disciples that salvation and spiritual transformation are impossible without God’s help. The proud, the self-sufficient, and the satisfied rarely see their need—but the poor in spirit receive grace. This prayer leads us into humble dependence, asking God to awaken our need for Him and deepen our awareness of His mercy. As you pray, let God soften your heart, and consider sharing this post with someone who might also need fresh encouragement in their walk with Christ.

Prayer

Father, we’re all rich with self, sin and satisfaction. My prayer is You’ll make me poor in Spirit (Matthew 5:3). Make me fully aware of my need for You. Put me in touch with my lack. Let me be aware of my utter weakness without You. It’s impossible for the satisfied and self-sufficient to make it to heaven without You, but You do the impossible. Your Spirit draws sinners to salvation. Thank You for doing that for me. Hallelujah.

Mark 10:23-27

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
