A Prayer for Insight in Times of Unanswered Prayer

Habakkuk 1:2-4

Have you ever had more questions, than answers after you have prayed about a subject? Have you ever wondered why the Father doesn’t answer more prayer? If so, then your not alone.  Habakkuk had these same thoughts.  Hopefully, this prayer that’s built on Habakkuk’s words will be helpful.

Lord, I have some tough questions for You, thankfully You’re big enough to handle my questions. You will never be offended when I come to You in faith. Lord, why don’t You answer my prayers? I’m under the persuasion that more people would pray if You acted when they prayed. All these grand promises You give about prayer and it seems like the more I pray the less you move. Would I be better off if I just stopped praying? Lord, here I am praying for Your Kingdom to come and when I see the violence, I ask for You to move. But You don’t do anything, what about that?  All I desire is holiness, but You surround me with wicked people! You make me look dead center at their wickedness. You hone my vision on evil. I assume You want me to pray about it. But why pray if it appears You never do anything. Why do You do this to me? Why would You have me intercede over problems You never act on? Why do You want me to waste my time? Lord, it’s not only in the world. It’s the same thing with strife and conflict among my brothers. The righteous are surrounded with the wicked. Can You give me some insight into what You are doing? (More hope and God’s response will come tomorrow.)

Habakkuk 1:2-4

How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.

  1. Same thing happening here to me. Thank you for sharing. I think I’ll soon read Habakuk. I complain about the wicked sometimes but I’m and will always trust almighty God quietly working behind the scenes tolerating and loving me even when I complain sometimes to Him and I’m sorry for it I know He always works out for good, has the last word and it is good.
